FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 2019 Red Kettle Campaign Media Kick-off
Marquette and Ishpeming, MI (November 04, 2019) -- The Red Kettle Campaign or Marquette County will officially kick-off at 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 7 at The Salvation Army, 1009 Baraga Ave., Marquette. The media is encouraged to attend this event. The kick-off event will include pronouncements from city officials and other professionals from our community, and the 2019 Campaign goal will be announced. Details of the "Ring-4-Bling" volunteerism promotion will be released, supported by Jandron's Fine Jewelry of Marquette. Additionally, details of the new county-wide Christmas Toy Shop will be released, as well as instructions for families to register.
The iconic Red Kettle campaign is one of the main fundraising events for The Salvation Army. Nearly $100,000 was raised last year in Marquette County. Funds are used to support services which occur throughout the year for at-risk people in our community, and include food pantries, utility assistance, community lunch feeding programs, case management and guidance, kid's after school programs and the Christmas toy drive. The Red Kettle event has been supported for many years by area service clubs, the Marquette Fire Department, the County Sheriff's office, the Michigan State Police, and local TV personalities.
The Salvation Army has operated continuously in Marquette County since 1889.
