The Salvation Army To Host Specialized Training for Volunteers


MILWAUKEE COUNTY – Have you ever wanted to volunteer for The Salvation Army during a disaster like Hurricane Harvey? Have you ever wanted to provide emotional/spiritual care for someone who has been affected by violence in Milwaukee?
If so, The Salvation Army is hosting two Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) training sessions and one Chaplaincy Program training session next month. These classes are required for volunteers being sent to any scene.
The classes will be taught by The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County's Chaplaincy Program Coordinator, Pastor Alexis Twito and other Salvation Army EDS staff. For more information, contact Pastor Alexis at 414-302-4300.

Class information: 

Spiritual and Psychological First Aid (Chaplaincy Program)
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date: Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 (must attend both days)
Place: The Salvation Army of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Divisional Headquarters, 11315 W. Watertown Plank Rd. Wauwatosa, WI
Description: This class is for volunteers interested in providing emotional and spiritual care to those affected by trauma and violence in Milwaukee. Interested chaplains must also fill out an application and apply to the program. This class is also open to people not interested in the chaplaincy program, as well.  

Incident Command System
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
Date: Saturday, April 14
Place: The Salvation Army of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Divisional Headquarters, 11315 W. Watertown Plank Rd. Wauwatosa, WI
Description: This class is intended for anyone who thinks they might volunteer to be deployed to a disaster, whether local or national. The course explains all the various roles and functions of the Incident Command Team. 

Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
Date: Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28
Place: The Salvation Army of Waukesha, 445 Madison St. Waukesha, WI
Description: This class is for anyone who thinks they might volunteer to be deployed to a disaster, whether local or national. The training centers on how to be a part of an Emotional & Spiritual Care team on disaster deployment.
