The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay Surpasses 2017 Christmas Campaign Goal
Over $1.1 Million Reached with Latest Donations
GREEN BAY - The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay announced that they have surpassed their 2017 Christmas Campaign goal of $1.1 Million and as of January 8th collected a total of $1,127,632.18 this season.
“It was truly an entire community working together that helped us reach our goal,” said Major Bob Mueller, County Coordinator. “We’re so thankful for the business partners, community leaders and residents of Green Bay and surrounding communities for their gracious contributions during this Christmas season.”
Money collected during the 2017 Christmas Campaign will be used to provide basic needs programming and services throughout 2018. “These funds directly support basic needs services that provide hope and healing to thousands right here in Greater Green Bay,” said Mueller. “Thanks to the community, The Salvation Army will be able to provide multiple families, children and seniors with food, shelter, and other basic necessities in the new year.”
The Salvation Army's local impact is felt throughout the year by bettering the lives of more than 14,000 people in need in the Greater Green Bay community. In their last fiscal year the organization distributed 10,088 bags of groceries, served over 33,000 meals, and helped 46 families move towards self-sufficiency. During the 2017 Christmas season, they provided toys for 4,999 children and food baskets to 2,030 families in need.
Although the bell ringing has ended on December 23, The Salvation Army Christmas Campaign runs until January 31, 2018. Those who would like to make a donation can do so online at www.sagreenbay.org, by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY or through check sent or in person to The Salvation Army, 626 Union Court, Green Bay, WI 54303.
