2018 ‘Coats for Kids’ collection and distribution
LA CROSSE –Multiple organizations are once again asking for the community’s help to keep others safe and warm during the cold winter months.
‘Coats for Kids’ is a collaborative program between The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities that provides hundreds of children and adults with proper winter clothing at no cost. To make this possible, the community is asked to make donations of coats, hats, mittens, scarves, snow pants, and other types of winter clothing. The drive runs from Thursday, October 4th to Friday, November 9th. Donated items for all ages will be accepted at the following locations:
· The Salvation Army of La Crosse – 223 N. 8th Street, La Crosse
· Catholic Charities – 413 3rd Street S., La Crosse
· All Kwik Trips located in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, and Stoddard
· Union State Bank in West Salem (both locations)
New or gently used winter clothing for children and adults are accepted. Larger sizes (XL+) are the biggest need. Water proof gloves, mittens, and hats are preferred.
Catholic Charities will begin distributing the donated items at their downtown La Crosse location on Monday, November 12th. Donations will be available during intake times on Mondays from 9am-12pm and from 1pm-3pm until March or April depending on the weather.
Donations will be handed out as long as supplies last. Clothing pick-ups can be scheduled outside the times listed above by contacting Catholic Charities at (608)782-0710.
