The Salvation Army Kettle Donations Down 50% of Goal
Hoping for a Christmas Miracle, the last day of the campaign is Christmas Eve.
DANE COUNTY - Christmas Eve is the very last day of The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign and the organization has found itself short of goal by fifty percent. At last count, kettle donations were at a little over $300,000, about half of the overall goal of $600,000. Over 8,100 hours have been rung so far this season, and there are about 60% of shifts remaining to be filled.
"The Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army's most vital fundraiser," said Steve Heck, Director of Operations and Development. "The support we receive from the community directly allows us to place families into permanent housing, provide hot meals at the shelter, mentor children in the After School Program, and more." Red Kettle Campaign donations support seven housing programs, two homeless shelters, and myriad services in Dane County, including the Adopt-a-Family holiday program, a community center, Emergency Disaster Services, and a chapel and spiritual care services. A loss in funding may require The Salvation Army to reconsider its allocation of resources. Bell ringers of all ages are invited to take a shift at the kettle and watch the life-changing magic of giving back make a difference in their community.
The campaign officially ends at 8 pm on Tuesday, December 24.
