Sony Music Nashville Partners With The Salvation Army and Sinclair Broadcast Group to Help "Rescue Christmas"
Dec 8, 2020
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2020) – Sony Music Nashville announces its partnership with The Salvation Army and Sinclair Broadcast Group- (Nasdaq: SBGI) today as part of The Salvation Army’s “Rescue Christmas” campaign. This year, The Salvation Army’s holiday season fundraising is more important than ever – millions of Americans are in need, and there is the daunting possibility of a 50% decrease in funds raised through the iconic Red Kettles due to the impacts of COVID-19. In response, Sony Music Nashville artists are raising their voices, inspiring viewers to give what they can. Robert Counts, Adam Doleac, Niko Moon, Mitchell Tenpenny and Rachel Wammack will perform Christmas favorites on the Rock the Red Kettle special in an effort to uplift and encourage viewers to help rescue Christmas by supporting The Salvation Army’s relief efforts at RescueChristmas.org. In addition to performances, the special will also feature impactful stories from those lifted up by The Salvation Army.
Produced by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the Rock the Red Kettle special will air exclusively on Sinclair’s free, over-the-top streaming platform STIRR. The special will run on STIRR City (channel 1) on December 16 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT. An encore will run on STIRR Music (channel 400) on December 17 at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT. The STIRR app is available on Roku TV, Fire TV, Apple TV as well as iOS and Android devices or at www.STIRR.com.
“The Salvation Army is prepared to serve more individuals and families this holiday season than ever before,” said Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “Our ability to rescue Christmas for millions of people will be directly attributable to support from the American public and partners like Sony Music Nashville and Sinclair Broadcast Group.” Sony Music Nashville’s Senior Director of Partnership Marketing, Nicole Marinake added, “Our Sony Music Nashville family of artists are thrilled to lend their voices to such an important cause with the Salvation Army’s mission to Rescue Christmas. More than ever we know that music has the power to bring people together and we’re so grateful to both the Salvation Army and Sinclair for this collaboration that started with Kane Brown’s halftime performance on Thanksgiving and will stretch through the holidays.”
The Rock the Red Kettle special performances were prerecorded at Acme Feed & Seed in downtown Nashville following social distancing precautions. Viewers can expect to hear the following songs:
- Robert Counts – “Run Run Rudolph”
- Adam Doleac – “Santa Claus is Comin to Town” and “The Christmas Song”
- Niko Moon – “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”
- Mitchell Tenpenny – “Neon Christmas” (original song) and “Joy to the World”
- Rachel Wammack – “Winter Wonderland”
Sony Music Nashville’s involvement with the “Rescue Christmas” campaign is stretching beyond the Rock the Red Kettle special. Global entertainer and RCA Nashville artist Kane Brown performed during the Red Kettle Kickoff halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Football Team. The nationally televised halftime performance is a Cowboys tradition, sounding the call for Americans to donate. With requests for service at an all-time high, this holiday fundraising is critical to providing shelter and meals for the homeless and hungry, Christmas toys for children and social service programs to millions of people in need year-round.
Other Sony Music Nashville artists including Tyler Booth, Hannah Dasher, Ross Ellis, Joey Hendricks, Andrew Jannakos, Kameron Marlowe, Restless Road and Chris Young are offering their support through performances of Christmas songs on their social media channels this holiday season and through the Angel Tree campaign, which provides new clothing and toys to more than one million children and families in need each year.
