Local Teen to Perform in the Rose Bowl Parade with Salvation Army Tournament of Roses Band

Marinette, WI - Isabella Stansbury, a talented 17-year-old trombone player and junior at Marinette High School, has been selected to perform in the prestigious Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California, as part of The Salvation Army’s Tournament of Roses Band. Her father, Major Joshua Stansbury, a corps officer at The Salvation Army of Marinette, will also join as a chaperone.

The band is a highly selective group, consisting of about 180 brass players and percussionists from across the United States and abroad.

“Isabella was chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity due to her exceptional musical skills, as well as her active involvement in her school's music program and at The Salvation Army of Marinette County,” said Daren Spencer, Music and Creative Arts Director for The Salvation Army of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan. “As a dedicated volunteer who participates regularly in the worship team, Isabella’s passion for music and commitment to service made her an ideal candidate for the band.”

The band’s rehearsal process is intense but unique, beginning with a Zoom practice session on December 16. Musicians then converge for several days of in-person rehearsals, where they perfect their performances and prepare for the 5-mile parade route.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on January 1, 2025. Viewers can watch the Salvation Army Tournament of Roses Band on KTLA Channel 5’s website or the YouTube Channel Music213, which provides an uninterrupted, full view of the bands as they march.

“Isabella is excited to represent her community and share her passion for music with the world,” Spencer said. “The parade is expected to be a memorable experience for all involved, and Isabella is especially grateful for the opportunity to perform in such a historic event.”
