Behind the Shield: John Pelletier, Volunteer-Fond du Lac
John Pelletier has been involved with The Salvation Army Fond du Lac for 17 years! He is currently serving his 11th year as an Advisory Board member and his 8th year at the Mini County Red Kettle Coordinator. In his role, John secures placement for each location, delivers the kettles, monitors them, picks them up and returns them to storage at the season's end. Read more about John below:
Q. How did you first learn about The Salvation Army?
A. I learned about The Salvation Army through a fellow I bowled with in the senior league. He said he had so much to do as a volunteer. I followed him to help him out and I've helped ever since.
Q. What is your favorite part about working at The Salvation Army?
A. I really like the satisfaction that comes from volunteering to help other people. As long as I'm able to do it, I'll stick around if you'll have me.
Q. What has been your favorite experience at The Salvation Army?
A. I like taking care of the mini counter Red Kettles. I look forward to it every year. This year, we had 90 of them out. Next year, we'll do more.
Q. What is one thing you believe the world should know about The Salvation Army?
A. The Salvation Army is always there for someone in need, whether its an individual family needing help or a whole community in times of tragedy.
Q. What are 3 words you would use to describe The Salvation Army?
A. Caring, helping and Christian
