2nd Annual ‘Raise Your Mic’ fundraiser continues tradition of collaboration
LA CROSSE, WI – Two local nonprofit organizations are collaborating once again to raise dollars and excitement in the Coulee Region.
The Salvation Army of La Crosse County and La Crosse Community Theatre will hold the 2nd Annual ‘Raise Your Mic’ event on Tuesday, July 16th at 7 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts, 428 Front Street South in downtown La Crosse. The event is a singing competition where competitors will battle for the right to be crowned the ‘best vocalist in the 7 Rivers Region’. They’ll perform in front of four local celebrity judges, but the judges’ score isn’t all that counts. The audience can also purchase raffle tickets and use them to vote for their favorite finalists. The three finalists with the most votes will get extra points added to their judges’ score.
All dollars raised from the event will benefit the day-to-day operations of The Salvation Army and La Crosse Community Theatre’s education program. ‘Raise Your Mic’ is presented by Gundersen Health System, John and Linda Lyche, Kaplan, WXOW News 19, and Z93.
“The talent in this community is extraordinary,” said Dominique Luecke of La Crosse Community Theatre. “I was blown away at auditions and cannot wait to see the finalists onstage. I have no idea who will win.”
Judges for this year’s event include: Brittany Styles of the Z93 Morning Buzz, Andy Hughes of TUGG, Steve Manson of Gundersen Health System, and last year’s ‘Raise Your Mic’ winner, Sydney Skemp.
Advanced tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults and available at the La Crosse Community Theatre’s box office or online at www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org. If purchased at the door, ticket prices are $12 for students and $15 for adults.
